Actor, teacher, writer, singer, and producer, Peter Skagen was born in Calgary, and grew up in Calgary and Los Angeles.

He first appeared on stage at age six in the role of the Myrrh King in the Passion Play. He wrote his first play at 9, made his first short film at 14, produced plays in Middle School, and joined the jazz band at 16 playing the ‘bone.

After graduating High School as class valedictorian, he studied English Literature at the University of Calgary, French at the University of Grenoble, and then, after moonlighting as a tennis pro for two years, did a Masters in Cinema/Screenwriting at California State University, Northridge where he worked on both sides of the camera.

He moved back to Canada, and worked for ten years as a freelance industrial and commercial writer and producer. During that time he also worked as instructor of directing at the Vancouver Film School. He continued acting, and writing, eventually signing with a screenwriting agent in Los Angeles.

He has had several movie projects optioned including The Return of Roy Landis, and The Leggy Dame. His recently completed script, a horror called Dead Still, is in active development with Salient Features in LA.

Peter was recently nominated for a Betty Award in Playwriting for his contribution to the hit show CockTales.

As an actor, Peter starred as the wedding singer in the hit interactive play Tony & Tina’s Wedding (Video). After over one hundred appearances, he took over as producer of the show. He then wrote, and produced his own interactive shows: Rodeo & Julie-Ed (Video), and Disco Saturday Night (Video), which were both extremely well-received by the corporate community and the public. He also works the ‘legitimate’ stage.

In 2003, he had the honor of creating the role of Chief Inspector Battle in the world premiere of the previously undiscoverd Agatha Christie play, Chimneys. (Video)

Peter primarily works as a film actor, having appeared in TV series such as Lonesome Dove; mini-series such as Mark Twain’s Roughing It and Into the West for Dreamworks; made-for-TV movies such as Monte Walsh with Tom Selleck, and The Legend of Butch and Sundance; and features, such as The Incredible Mrs. Richie, with James Caan, September Dawn with Jon Voight, and Resurrecting the Champ with Josh Hartnett.

Peter also teaches a highly respected acting/audition seminar, AuditionHell, throughout Western Canada, and Colleges and Universities.

And he consults in applied acting to corporations.

Peter has one daughter, and lives in Calgary.
